WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Back for it’s 13th year, the annual Souper Snow Sculpture event is bigger, better, and cooler than ever.
Hosted at the Centralia Center on Jan. 27, the day will bring the area’s best in amateur snow sculpters, and all for a great cause, as a percentage of the proceeds will go towards the South Wood County Humane Society. From themes of unity, to Star Wars, the event makes the best use of Wisconsin’s frigid temperatures, and this year will see a plethora of entertainment on top of it.
However, the show doesn’t begin and end with the sculptures — as there are plenty of events going on inside the Centralia Center. These include live performances by Harps & Heels, and Tom DeWitt and the Antoinettes, as well as various kids activities from face-painting, balloon twisting, and a drawing station sponsored by Corex and United Emergency Medical Response.
“The cool thing is, if the weather cooperates, the city allows us to keep the sculptures up a few days after the event,” said Chariton. “A lot of people will drive by the parking lot to check those out — it’s definitely a draw for the community to come check it out.”
Last, but definitely not least is the soup. Over a dozen local-area restaurants will provide soup for purchase during the event. These will include featured soups from Baker Street Grill, Boone’s Saloon, Chat –R-Box Café, Four Star Family Restaurant, Freddie’s Pub & Eatery, Great Expectations, Hotel Mead, Jennings & Co., Octane Bar & Grill, The Ridge’s, Scott Keller from Canteen, and Wild Horse Saloon.
Tickets will be on sale for the ‘Cozy Night In’ raffle package, which includes an entertainment center with fireplace, a 43′ 4K television, and home goods. The total value for this raffle package is $1,000. There will be more raffle baskets offered inside the Centralia Center, as well.
