A Wisconsin Rapids man is charged with criminal damage to property after shooting a BB Gun at another man’s home and vehicle.
John Middleton, 38, is charged with misdemeanor criminal damage to property which carries a maximum sentence of up to nine months imprisonment, or a $10,000 fine or both if convicted.
Middleton pleaded not guilty to the charge at his initial appearance in Wood County Circuit Court on December 21.
According to court documents, on October 18 a Wisconsin Rapids Police officer was dispatched to the 900 block of Chase Street. When the officer arrived he met with a man who said he was in his home earlier that day when he heard glass breaking.
The man went outside to investigate when he saw a man he knew as Middleton allegedly shooting a BB gun pistol at his home and vehicle. He told officers that Middleton was probably mad at him because he stole his girlfriend.
The investigating officer reports 20 BB holes in the truck and home of the victim.
Middleton is currently free on a $500 signature bond. He returns to court on January 22 at 10:00 AM for a pretrial conference.
This case has not been concluded. Unless a judgment of conviction is entered, the defendant is presumed innocent of all charges.
