WISCONSIN RAPIDS — City officials have approved a request for a grant submission on behalf of the South Wood County YMCA.
In efforts to support the development of the new YMCA/Boys & Girls Club facility, the city will apply for the grant through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. The Site-Assessment Grant will help in offsetting the redevelopment costs of environmental testing, asbestos remediation, and demolition.
“This would be phase one of three potential grants we have identified,” said Community Development Director Adam Tegan. “…if awarded we would we would reimburse the YMCA.”
The YMCA would be responsible for providing the local and and additional information necessary to grant guidelines. Through the grant, the city is eligble for up to $150,000.
No costs will be incurred through the city for this grant, aside from the small cost to prepare the grant.
“We know that there’s time involved, and we appreciate Adam’s work; as well as of the support of the council.” said South Wood County YMCA CEO Bret Salschieder.
