Mid-State Technical College (Mid-State) is holding a grand opening celebration for its new Diesel Technology Center located at Wisconsin Rapids Campus (500 32nd St. N) on Apr. 1, and all members of the community are invited to attend. The celebration will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and a dedication ceremony will take place at noon.
Attendees are invited to view the new facility and watch demonstrations of high-tech instructional tools and techniques. Appetizers and refreshments will be provided.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of bus and truck mechanics and diesel engine specialists is expected to grow by 11% in the next 10 years. The college currently provides a Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technician program, as well as an Automotive Technician program. In each, students receive hands-on classroom learning and real-world experience on state-of-the-art equipment. Each program follows National Automotive Training Education Foundation (NATEF) standards.
Attendees are advised to park in the parking lot next to the I Building. Upon arrival to Wisconsin Rapids Campus, enter the northern-most entrance on 32nd Street (closest to Washington Avenue). Signage will be posted guiding guests from this parking lot to the Diesel Technology Center.
Mid-State, one of 16 colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System, offers associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificates in a variety of high-demand fields. With campuses in Marshfield, Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Rapids, and a learning center in Adams, the college district serves a resident population of approximately 165,000.
