A 31-year-old woman has been charged with first degree reckless injury after shooting a 23-year-old man in the leg — a man who was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
According to police reports, on Sept. 17, on the 1300 block of Wisconsin St., a call was received regarding a man who was shot in the leg, later identified as Tyler Larsen. The caller informed police that he witnessed Larsen “messing around” with a Ruger revolver by spinning it around on his finger.
Larsen then passed the firearm to Samantha Krebs. Krebs then allegedly aimed the firearm at Larsen, pressed it up against Larsen’s right thigh, and pulled the trigger.
Police later found Larsen at a residence on the 600 block of Wisconsin St. According to officers, Larsen was unaware of what was happening to him as he lay on the sofa. Larsen appeared to be under the influence of something, and was observed to have his thigh wrapped.
Authorities called an ambulance, and once they arrived, they lifted Larsen from the couch only to reveal a small baggie of crystal meth underneath him.
Larsen allegedly told officers that he did not seek medical assistance because he knew police were looking for him. Larsen would suffer a broken femur as a result of the gunshot.
Larsen also told officers that Krebs was his girlfriend.
If convicted, Krebs faces up to 25 years imprisonment and up to $100,000 in fines. Larsen faces up to three years and six months imprisonment, and up to $10,000 in fines. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for Oct. 3.
