Wisconsin Rapids Mayor Zach Vruwink will attend his first League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board meeting on February 12 after recently being appointed to the 16-member governing body. Vruwink will serve through October of 2018.
“I am pleased to join the League of Wisconsin Municipalities to represent the interests of Wisconsin Rapids and municipalities across the state. Wisconsin is successful when its cities and villages are strong and I look forward to serving to achieve this.” Vruwink said
Vruwink has served as Mayor of Wisconsin Rapids since 2012. He is a Wisconsin Rapids native and is the owner and founder of ZAXX Technology Services. As Mayor he has worked to grow the local economy through redevelopment of the city’s downtown waterfront, job growth, and citizen engagement. He has actively served his community on the board of the local Boys & Girls Club, Arts Council, as the founding member of the Governing Council at Mead Elementary Charter School and the South Wood County Teen Leadership program. Vruwink is passionate about recreation, technology, entrepreneurship, citizen engagement and public service.
The League Board establishes the strategic direction for the organization, which advocates for Wisconsin’s cities and villages, provides legal services to League members and provides training and networking opportunities. The agenda for the February 12 meeting includes an update on recent legislation including economic development proposals like the Tax Incremental Financing proposals moving through the Legislature that are supported by the League as well as some of the over 230 bills introduced in January.
