The town of Rome has recently become a Bird City, and to celebrate this and migratory bird day the Lester Public Library has decided to host a Migratory Bird Day Celebration this Saturday.
The day’s events will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The schedule of events are as follows:
9:30 a.m.: How to get YOUR yard recognized as a Wildlife Certified Habitat – Karen Houdek.
10:30 a.m.: Life Cycle of the Monarch Butterfly-Pat Paulus.
There will also be a free plant exchange – bring your slips and bloomers – hosted by the Master Gardener Volunteers.
There will be a display of photographs of backyard birds in Sherwood Forest. Master Gardener Volunteers will be present to answer questions, have information on butterfly and bird habitats. Also included in the events are easy bird feeders for children to make, and easy crafts for anyone to make to help keep birds from hitting windows.
A live cam of a bird nest on a computer inside the library will be on display, and coloring sheets for children will be available inside the library.
