A Wisconsin Rapids man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a minor.
Samuel Conery, 21, was been charged with sex with a child age 16 or older following the assault, which occurred at a party on George Road in Jan. of 2015.
According to the criminal complaint, Conery was with a 16-year-old SPASH student from Stevens Point, who later reported the assault to police in Stevens Point.
According to the criminal complaint, the girl fell asleep during the party and was awakened when Conery began to fondle her. The girl stated Conery proceeded to engage in sexual intercourse with her, and while she did not say anything at the time, she did not want to engage in sex with Conery.
Conery pleaded guilty in Wood Co. Circuit Court on Jan. 4. He faced up to nine months in prison but was sentenced to two years of extended supervision. He is to have no contact with females under the age of 18 unless approved by his probation officer.
