The Assumption Royals varsity boys basketball team fell behind the Antigo Red Robins early in the game on December 8 and while never far behind, weren’t able to pull out the win.
The Royals entered the game following a 49-39 win over the Pacelli High School Cardinals on December 3. This loss brings them to an even 2-2 record.
Leading scorers for Assumption were sophomore forward Joe Grundhoffer and sophomore guard Jacob Sullivan who both shot 14 points. The Royals shot about 38 percent from field goal range and 23 percent from the three point line which was an improvement over the previous week’s shooting against Pacelli.
Antigo dominated the Royals defensively, taking down 32 rebounds to Assumption’s 21. Lead scorers for the Red Robins were Matt Arendt with 20 points and Drew Schwarz with 13.
The Royals next travel to Wausau to take on the Newman Catholic Cardinals on December 15 at 7:15 PM for their first game of Marawood South Conference play.
