WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A 21-year-old local woman has been taken into custody in relation to the false complaint of a gunman at Lincoln High School on Feb. 20.
On that Tuesday, police were dispatched to Lincoln High School for reports of a male subject walking around the school with a gun. After a thorough search by the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, with assistance from the Wood Co. Sheriff’s Department, authorities did not uncover anything unusual after clearing the building, and determined the complaint to be false.
According to reports, around the same time of the incident, a shoplifting complaint was reported by a local business involving four individuals, two of whom were detained by loss prevention. The two other individuals were waiting in the parking lot, and the suspect allegedly phoned in the hoax gun complaint to police in an attempt to divert attention away from the shoplifting incident.
At no time was the subject ever by the school.
Identified as Autumn Trepish, she is now currently in custody at the Wood Co. Jail and faces likely charges of obstruction, disorderly conduct, and bail jumping. According to police reports, Trepish claimed that she was hiding in the bathroom while a man dressed in black roamed the school with a firearm.
Her next court date is set for Feb. 26.
