WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Local area high school teams when 2-for-3 last week, and this Friday look to make that 3-for-3.
Nekoosa Travels to the Dells
After Nekoosa’s 56-6 blowout win over Boscobel on Friday, they look to start a winning streak, as they take on the Chiefs of Wisconsin Dells. Wisconsin Dells are coming off a 34-6 loss to Cambridge last week, and hold a record of 1-3 heading into Friday’s contest.
The Papermakers look to improve on their 1-3 record, and could do so with the continued improved play of Kyle Olson, who went 5-for-5 with 135 yards and 3 touchdowns, as well as a slew of rushing yards. Running back Dylan Bills led the way for the Papermakers, who ran for over 200 yards with three touchdowns on the night. The Chiefs will have their hands full as they look to stop a Nekoosa offense that is gaining momentum.
Assumption Hosts Abbotsford
The Royals will host a tough Falcons squad on Friday night, who have been perfect in conference play this year, and hold a 3-1 record. Led by Chase Sperl and quarterback Ean Rau, the Falcons put away Thorp last week 56-21.
Assumption won their second nail-biter of the season, defeating Athens 22-20 last week. Quarterback Teddy Ashbeck has become the centerpiece for the Royal’s offense, but will need help from backs Cole Statz and Aden Eisen to put points on the board against a high-flying Falcons team.
Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. at the South Wood County 2000 Football Field.
Raiders Look to Rebound in Wausau
After being shutout last week against Neenah, the Red Raiders continue their four-game road trip by taking on Wausau East on Friday night. Wausau East is coming off a loss of their own, dropping a game against Merrill 48-7. The Lumberjacks are 1-3 on the year, and will have to face a determined Lincoln offense who will be hungry for points this week.
Wideout Isaiah Westfall was held to only 24 yards last week, and even with a near 200-yard rushing display by Isaac Pelot, the Red Raiders will look to put last week behind them and improve on their 2-2 record.
Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. at Wausau East High School.
