Winter Sleigh Ride Event Benefits United Way
For the City Times
On Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, Altenburg’s Farm is holding a winter sleigh ride event from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the proceeds benefiting United Way of Inner Wisconsin.
The event includes a heated waiting room inside Wiggins Green house, hot chocolate and chili for sale, and an outdoor bonfire for participants to enjoy. Each sleigh accommodates large groups and each ride is about one mile long.
Tickets for the event are $5 dollars per person or $20 dollars for a family of five or more. River Cities Bank is matching the event proceeds up to $250 dollars. The chili is being donated by Olympic II Family Restaurant, and the hot cocoa will be donated by Grace’s Family Restaurant.
Altenburg’s Farm is located at 7020 Plover Rd. (Highway 54E), in Wisconsin Rapids.
“We are excited to partner with Altenburg’s on this event,” said Tari Jahns, United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s CEO. “It’s a perfect opportunity for families to spend quality time and enjoy the outdoors at wintertime. And the proceeds will support programs in south Wood County that help families and individuals in need.”
Harold Altenburg is excited to help United Way.
“Its people helping people,” said Altenburg.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with greeting, standing in front of the horses while people are loading and unloading, cleaning tables, serving chili and hot cocoa and supervising the bonfire.
