For the City Times

Central Wisconsin students entering grades 6 through 8 are gearing up for Camp MSTC – 2015, a hands-on opportunity to explore the careers and crucial skills of tomorrow. The camp is held at Mid-State Technical College’s Wisconsin Rapids Campus each June.

Each attendee will participate in three career exploration sessions of their choice. Sessions offered this year include Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician, Criminal Justice-Corrections, Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement, Early Childhood Education, Emergency Medical Technician and Junior Fire Fighting, Farm Operations, Health and Wellness Promotion, Health Informatics and Information Management, IT Software Developer, Machine Tool Technician, Renewable Energy, Respiratory Therapist, Surgical Technologist, Urban Forestry, and Welding.

The primary goal of MSTC’s annual College Camp is to broaden a young person’s perspective of career possibilities through onsite, hands-on career discovery in a fun and engaging way. The popular camp’s $35 registration fee includes all three sessions, snacks, lunch, camp gift, and bus transportation.

Individuals interested in participating in next year’s camp should call Betsy Feaster at 715-422-5413. To learn more about other Mid-State programs and services, visit www.mstc.edu or stop by the MSTC location nearest you.

Mid-State, one of 16 colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System, offers a variety of associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificates. With welcoming campuses in Marshfield, Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Rapids, and a learning center in Adams, the college serves a resident population of approximately 165,000 in the MSTC District comprising all or portions of Adams, Clark, Jackson, Juneau, Marathon, Portage, Waushara, and Wood counties. A supportive environment and instruction from experts in their field provide Mid-State students with the knowledge and hands-on skills they need to succeed in their careers.

More than 90% of Mid-State graduates are employed within six months of graduation.
