Rafters finish 2-1 Over Woodchucks in Tripleheader
The Rafters came out ahead two out of three times in a tripleheader against the Wausau Woodchucks during two makeups and one regularly scheduled game at Witter Field.
Monday’s triple header came from the need to complete two past games that were rained out, a common theme this season, especially when the Woodchucks come to town.
Game one started at 4:05 p.m. and completed a seven-inning game that was suspended by rain on May 27. The game started with two outs in the top of the fifth inning with the Woodchucks leading 5-1. Approximately 30 minutes following the completion of the suspended game, the Rafters and Woodchucks played a seven-inning game postponed from July 6.
Finally, 30 minutes following the second game, the teams will play the seven-inning game that was originally scheduled for Monday, August 3.
The Woodchucks game out victorious in the first game after improving on their existing lead, ending the game with a 6-2 lead over the rafters. In the second game of the evening, making up for July 6, the Rafters took the evening back with a 7-3 win.
In the third and only regularly scheduled game of the evening, the Rafters defeated the Woodchucks again in a close 2-1 match improving team standings to a 30-34 record as the Woodchucks sit at 23-34.
The Rafters take on the Woodchucks again on Wednesday at 6:35 PM in Wausau at Athletic Park.
