A Wisconsin Rapids man faces misdemeanor charges after reportedly placing his ex-wife in a headlock and punching another man.

According to the criminal complaint, on July 11 a Wood County Sheriff’s deputy reported to the home of 26-year-old Logan Presley on the 100 block of Beaver St. in the Village of Biron to investigate a domestic disturbance call.

Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Presley’s ex-wife who told him that she had been at his home to discuss visitation of the couple’s four children. She said she was leaving the property when Presley began yelling at her in the yard. She then turned around, met him in the yard and began yelling as well.

According to the complaint, Presley then grabbed his ex-wife by the neck and put her in a headlock. A male friend of Presley’s ex-wife came to assist and Presley “took him to the ground” and punched him in the face. Police reported that the man had a mark near his eye from the dust up.

Presley told police that he was trying to restrain his ex-wife after she threw a phone at his truck causing damage and then walked around his house throwing unspecified objects at it. He also said that the man with his ex-wife punched him in the face three times.

On July 21, Presley was released on a $1,000 cash bond under the condition that he not have any contact with his ex-wife except during incidental contact during child drop off or pick up at The Family Center.

Presley faces up to nine months imprisonment, a $10,000 or both for the class A misdemeanor charge of battery if convicted. He also faced a class B misdemeanor charge for disorderly conduct with a maximum charge of 90 days imprisonment, a $1,000 fine or both if convicted.

Presley returns to Branch 2 of Wood Count Circuit Court on September 11 at 9:00 AM for a pre-trial conference.
