Witter Field Expects Full Stands Thursday Night
For the City Times
Witter Field is expected to be at capacity Thursday night as 2,500 tickets have been sold for Water Works and Lighting Commission Night commemorating 100 years of municipal ownership in Wisconsin Rapids.
The 30-34 Rafters will take on the 31-36 Thunder Bay Border Cats with first pitch coming at 7:05 p.m. The Rafters finish their series with the 23-44 Wisconsin Woodchucks at Wausau Athletic Park tonight 7:05 PM.
With a capacity crowd of 2,500 fans expected, it is projected to be the largest crowd in Rafters history and would break the record of 2,415 set on Aug. 16, 2010. No additional tickets will be sold for the game.
Commission Customers who brought in their June electric and water bill along with non-perishable food items to the Rafters Ticket Office starting July 6 through July 31 were able to receive up to four free tickets for the game. All food items were donated to the South Wood County Emergency Pantry Shelf in Wisconsin Rapids. More than 1,000 tickets were claimed on the first day the tickets were available, leaving standing room only remaining during the last month.
Additional auxiliary bleachers will be placed down the third base line to accommodate the capacity crowd, as well as additional tables and chairs throughout the Witter Field concourse. Fans will not be allowed to bring in personal chairs.
The ZOOperstars! will also be on hand to provide in-game entertainment.
