Rafters Win Leads to Franchise Record

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 6-4 Saturday night, leading to a record setting season as they increase their total season wins to a record 32nd victory.

The Bullfrogs scored first at the top of the 3rd with a solo home run by Ray Greco (UW-Stevens Point). The Rafters soon recovered with six unanswered runs bringing a 6-1 lead against the Bullfrogs.

The Bullfrogs returned with three runs in the 9th inning but were unable to come out ahead, even loading the bases twice to no avail. Dmitry Shtykher (Russia) earned the win for Wisconsin Rapids, while Clayton Uselman (Madison College) took the loss for Green Bay. Justin Kelly (UC Santa Barbara) earned the one-out save for the Rafters.

The Rafter’s also set an attendance record, filling the stands of Historic Witter Field with 2500 fans, at their game Thursday night against the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

The Rafter’s play their final game of the season against the Bullfrogs Saturday night; First pitch is at 5:05 PM. With a win Sunday, the Rafters improve to a franchise best 33-35 record, taking 6th place in the Southern Division of the Northwoods League.
