A Stevens Point man who was arrested on a warrant issued by Wood County Circuit Court, appeared in court today for new charges of THC possession.

Timothy Lundenburg, 50, faces class I felony charges for his second offense of THC possession which carries a maximum sentence of a $10,000 fine, or three years and six months imprisonment or both.

According to court records, on July 31 a Wood County Sheriff’s deputy met with the Stevens Point Police Department on the county line in Rudolph, Wis., at 1:16 to exchange Lundenburg who had been arrested in Stevens Point on a warrant issued by Wood County. The warrant was issued for charges of disorderly conduct and THC possession.

During the exchange, the Stevens Point officer told the Wood County Deputy he was worried that Lundenburg may have ingested some kind of prescription drug related to a cast on his left leg. He had been fidgeting with the cast since he was picked up.

When Lundenburg was placed in the squad car, the deputy reports that he noticed a strong odor of raw marijuana. The deputy then took Lundenburg to Riverview Medical Center to obtain medical clearance due to the prescription drug concerns before bringing to the jail for processing.

While at Riverview, an x-ray was taken of Lundenburg’s casted leg. The x-ray showed an object inside the cast and a portion of the cast was removed, revealing  a bag containing 7.2 grams of marijuana.

“You can’t blame a guy for trying,” said Lundenburg after the discovery.

On August 3, Lundenburg was released on a $2500 signature bond under the condition he maintain absolute sobriety.

A preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled.
