Assumption Rolls Over Gilman

In their second subsequent game away from home, the Assumption Royals varsity football team defeated the Gilman Pirates 53-12, their second win in conference play.
The Royals, coming off 32-6 win against Athens Fighting Bluejays the week before, scored 47 unanswered points before Gilman came back with just two scores in the fourth quarter.
Senior running back Jon Trickey led the team, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter, one on a six yard run and the second a 35 yard run. The Royals gained two more TDs in the second quarter on a 19 yard run by senior RB Brady Baltus and a 43 yard run by sophomore quarterback Jacob Sullivan brought the score to 27-0 at halftime.
Royals senior QB Isaac Kollock opened the second half with a 57 yard run for a TD bringing the score to 34-0. Trickey ran for two more TDs in the third quarter raising the lead to 47-0.
The Pirates scored twice in the fourth quarter, once after junior defensive back Chance Rosemeyer recovered a fumble and ran for a TD and another from a one yard TD run again by Rosemeyer.
Royals sophomore RB Teddy Ashbeck ran for a 65 yard touchdown to bringing the team to a final tally of 53 points.
Assumption rushed for a total of 482 yards led by Tricky with 183 yards and Kollock with 101. Gilman was held to only 47 rushing yards.
The Royals’ record improves to 4-1 while the Pirates drop to 0-5.
Assumption takes on the Loyal Greyhounds at home this Friday, Sept. 25. at 7:00 PM.
