Vivian Pearl Cornelius, 76
Vivian Pearl Cornelius, age 76, Nekoosa, WI passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Her family and pets, Sophia and Gypsy were at her side.
Vivian was born on June 21, 1939 in Cornell, WI to Dola Beatrice Capek (York) and Joseph Francis Capek. She married Larry Cornelius on February 1, 1964 in the town of Cranmoor. She grew up on Cornell, WI, later moving to the township of Port Edwards, WI. The current Port Edwards cemetery land was once owned by her family. She often told us stories about playing in the Moccasin Creek and how the trains would stop for water by their house, which was next to the tracks. Now, she will be laid to rest there. She worked in the Huber and IGA stores in Nekoosa when she was younger then as a CNA and security guard.
She enjoyed animals, gardening, wildlife and birdwatching, crafts, sewing, knitting, crochet, reading, crosswords, and especially painting. She was our artist. We have many of her beautiful paintings and crafts that are so special to us. She also enjoyed her travels with Larry, brother, Joe, and sister in-law, Betty.
She was known to us as mom, mother, mummy, grandma, grammy, and Maga. Maga could be sassy, spoke her mind, and liked to joke around. We loved this about her. A special thank you to Ronnie, a family friend who gave Maga a lot of laughs with all of his antics. She had a caring and generous nature, always thinking about others before herself. She left us a legacy of knowledge, character, and love. She made family and preserving all the memories most important to her. Words cannot express how we miss our grammy. We know she is in heaven with her granddaughter Deidre now.
Thank you so much to the hospice team, Sasha, Roberta, Suzie, and Chaplain Dave, who made it possible for us to care for mom at home where she was comfortable. She loved giving all of you a hard time and a lot of laughs.
Vivian was predeceased by her parents, 3 brothers, Francis, Victor and Joe Capek, Jr., and loved grandchild Deidre Meria Week.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Cornelius; her children, Chris Meyer (Sveindis), Brenda Week (David), and Sherry Cornelius; her sister, Leona Sweat (friend Kenny); her grandchildren, Jana, Christopher (Tanya), Brooke, Brandon (Tracy), Avery, Adrienne, Kelli, and Kyle; and her great grandchildren, Jeremy, Jaxon, Lilja, Quinton, Benjamin, Nevaeh, and Ava. She is further survived by her extended family of relatives.
A private family service was held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Port Edwards Cemetery.
