The Assumption Royals varsity boys basketball team fell to the Columbus Catholic Dons 54-51 in the final game of the annual Cranberry Classic Tournament on November 28.

The Royals entered the game after a 72-51 win over the Nekoosa Papermakers on November 27. The loss earned them second place in the tourney which they had topped in the 2014 season. The Royals season record now stands at 1-1.

Leading the game for the Royals was sophomore forward Joe Grundhoffer with 20 points, senior point guard Brady Baltus with 16 and junior guard Trevor Newton with nine.

The Dons were led by junior point guard Hunter Schultz with 16 points, sophomore guard Nick Malovrh with 15 and senior forward Evan Nikolai with 13.

The Royals next travel to Stevens Point to take on the Pacelli Cardinals at 7:30 PM on December 3 and then head to Antigo to play the Red Robins on December 8.
