George “Day” Collar Jr., age 90, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his residence.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Graveside services will follow, with full military honors, at Calvary Cemetery.

George was born November 6, 1925 in Hortonville, WI to George and Della (Bodoh) Collar. He married Jacqueline LeMieux on June 18, 1949; they were blessed with four children. George married Cathy Gregory on August 12, 1980; they were blessed with 35 years of marriage and two children.

George graduated from Shiocton High School. He fought bravely during World War II in the United States Army. He worked for Copps Food Stores as a district supervisor. George loved spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed caring for his special canine friends – Sugar and Spice. He was generous, devoted, and always put others before himself. He showed us how to be the people we are today and will be greatly missed.

George is survived by his wife, Cathy; children: George W. (Bob Brown) Collar, Kenneth Collar, Mary LeMieux, David (Kelli) Collar, Tobias (Kelsey) Collar, and Lucas (Rachel) Collar; seven grandchildren; sister, Carol (Joe) Keberlein; and sister-in-law, Linda Jost.
