Raymond P. Menard Sr, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Strawberry Lane Medical & Rehab Center, Wisconsin Rapid, WI.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday December 19, 2015 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Jim Altman will officiate the service. Visitation will be at Saints Peter & Paul Church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Entombment will be held at a later date at Good Shepherd Mausoleum (Calvary Cemetery). Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.
Ray was born on October 20, 1931 in Escanaba, MI to Theodore and Isabel (Soper) Menard. He married Patricia A. Polmateer on November 27, 1954 in Escanaba, MI. Ray was a pharmacist, owning and operating a pharmacy in Gladstone, MI and also working at pharmacies in Merrill, Rhinelander and retiring from Daly Drugs in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Ray was an outstanding baseball pitcher, first drafted by the Chicago White Sox out of high school and then by the Detroit Tigers out of college. Ray played in many semi pro baseball leagues and later played in many fast-pitch softball leagues. He was a member of the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club.
Ray is survived by his wife, Patricia; four sons, Ray (Diane) Menard of Wausau, WI, Brian (Karen) Menard of Neenah, WI, Glenn (Ellen) Menard of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Chris (Theresa) Menard of Marathon, WI; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to St. Joseph’s Hospital Wisconsin Dialysis Unit.
