Here are some news and notes from the finance and property committee meeting held on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

-A motion was carried to approve the use of alcohol at the upcoming event Arti Gras, held in Wisconsin Rapids on Mar. 19. This event will be held at the Centralia Center inside the Rapids Mall.

-A special events application was considered and approved for three mile run sponsored by the South Wood County YMCA. This is in conjunction with the Cranberry Blossom Fest held on Jun. 18, 2016. Vending for the run, as well as street closures are approved for the short duration of this run, which will start at Witter Field, and cross the Riverview expressway bridge, then lead back to and finish at Witter Field.

-A request to consider an increase in cab fares and rates for River Cities Cab was approved. The fare structure would have to be changed for this to take effect. There will be a public hearing held on the matter in a common council meeting held on Mar. 15, 2016.
