Public Works Committee Meeting News and Notes Feb. 9
By Joe Bachman
Here are some news and notes from the public works committee meeting held at City Hall on Feb. 9.
-The committee discussed speed studies done on drivers in the area focused on two streets. Data found that on 25th Ave. South, 95% of residents drive at a speed of 30 mph or higher, compared the current 25 mph speed limit on that road. On 32nd St. North, drivers average 40-49 mph compared to the 35 mph speed limit currently set in place. There will be further discussion of changing speed limits on those roads at future meetings.
-A request by Aspirus Riverview hospital to replace the light fixtures on Dewey St. was approved.
-A motion was carried to approve a parking measure which sees no parking in alleys in the city of Wisconsin Rapids. This is due to potential emergency staff and firefighters having to use the area in emergency situations.
