A 28-year-old man has been charged with first degree sexual assault after police say he sexually assaulted a family member over a span of three years.

Jayme Lafler, of Milladore, is charged with repeated sexual assault of a child. According to police reports, on Sep. 10, 2014, an investigator from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department observed a forensic interview of the 13-year-old complainant. He told investigators that between the ages of seven and 10 he was sexually assaulted by Lafler multiple times.

The assaults occurred in various locations, including Nekoosa, the Town of Saratoga and Wisconsin Rapids all in family residences. In each instance Lafler threatened physical harm towards the complainant if he told anyone.

If convicted, Lafler faces up to 60 years imprisonment. His pre-trial conference is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 12.
