Identity of Victim in Weekend Accident Released

An accident involving two vehicles took the life of one of its passengers, as well as injuring five others on Friday night.
A 21-year-old Nekoosa woman was northbound on Cty Trk Highway Z when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy conditions. The vehicle collided with an oncoming pickup truck from the other lane driven by a male driver from Nekoosa. The driver and his female passenger from the pickup truck were transported to Riverview Hospital for medical treatment.
Two passengers in the car driven by the female driver were also taken to Riverview Hospital. The third was airlifted by a Spirit helicopter and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. The fourth passenger, identified as 55-year-old William J. McDowell of Valencia, California was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.
The victim was reported to not have been wearing his seat-belt at the time of the crash. The accident is still under investigation by the Port Edwards Police Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
