A 44-year-old woman is charged with possession of cocaine after police say a baggie of cocaine was found in her possession.
Virginia Johnson, of Crandon, is charged with possession of cocaine. According to police reports, on Apr. 13, 2015, a trooper was dispatched to the Village of Babcock in Wood County in response to a vehicle in the ditch.
After arriving at he scene, the trooper made contact with Johnson, and observed Johnson continually keeping her hands in her pocket. As Johnson took her hands out of her pockets, a small plastic baggie fell to the ground. Johnson allegedly denied that the baggie was hers, but then changed her story and told the trooper that the baggie must have been in her pocket for a few days.
Johnson allegedly admitted that the baggie contained cocaine. Later tests performed by the police department would confirm the presence of cocaine.
If convicted, Johnson faces up to one year imprisonment and up to $5,000 in fines. Her pre-trial conference is scheduled for Feb. 26, and her 12-person jury trial is scheduled for Mar. 10, 2016.
