An 18-year-old man is charged with burglary and theft of movable property after police say he stole a motorcycle from a business.
James Johnston, of Wisconsin Rapids, is charged with burglary and movable theft of properly greater than $2,500. According to police reports, on Sep. 3, 2015, a deputy was dispatched to the 10500 block of State Highway 13 South regarding a possible burglary.
The deputy spoke with the complainant, who told him that he noticed the fence on the property was opened, and the chain on the fence was cut, as well as the master lock. It was later determined that a 2013 Honda CBR250R motorcycle was taken from the property.
Deputies made contact with Johnston, who allegedly admitted stealing the motorcycle in question, and then taking it to Michigan to trade it for another motorcycle.
If convicted, Johnston faces up to 12 years imprisonment and up to $25,000 in fines. He was in court for a pre-trial conference on Feb. 22., and future court dates are pending.
