Rev. Francis (Frank) M. Kisner, age 95, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away on February 23, 2016 at the Victory Ridge Hospice Unit of the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.
A Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, 469 Airport Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, with Visitation beginning at 9:30 AM and Funeral Services to follow immediately at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors.
Rev. Kisner was born in Hanlontown, IA, on November 5th, 1920, to Cornelius V. and Leora D. (Tewksbury) Kisner. The family moved to Joice, IA in 1925 and Frank graduated from Joice High School in 1938.
In 1942 Frank was inducted into the armed services during WWII with the majority of his service in the Panama Canal Zone under the US 4th Army Headquarters Battery 906 Anti Aircraft Artillery.
Following his discharge from the armed service and with the encouragement of his Army Chaplain, Frank felt called to the gospel ministry and received his training at Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, MN. While in college, he met Betty L. King and they were married June 12, 1948. Betty passed away January 20, 2000.
Rev. Kisner was Ordained November 1, 1955 at the Highland Park Baptist Church, St. Paul, MN. He served ministries in Fargo, ND, St. Paul, MN, Huntley, MN, Tomah, WI and for 17 years was senior pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He was a past member of the Wisconsin Association of Regular Baptist Church’s Council of Eight, was twice elected president of the Minnesota Baptist Convention pastor’s fellowship and was a member of the Board of Trustees of Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, MN.
Rev. Kisner was preceded in death by his wife Betty and his sister Marilyn (Kisner) Dalbotten. He is survived by his son David, daughter-in-law Wendy, and grandchildren Amy and Nathan.
