The South Wood County Empty Bowls drew large crowds for their 4th annual event held on Saturday Mar 5.,  where proceeds go to fight hunger in Wood County.

It is estimated that close to 300 people showed up for the cause, who received a homemade ceramic bowl, a choice of various soups from local businesses, as well as bread and pastries for a $10 donation. The bowls were crafted from local potters of all ages.

“We provide funding in our community to organizations that provide food for those in need,” said event organizer Chris Grimes. “It’s fun, the pottery is great, and we’ve had so much cooperation from restaurants that provided soup, as well as members of our church.”

The event featured soups from Ida’s, Great Expectations, Jennings & Co., Misty’s Menu, Sportsmen’s Pub, Olympic II, Chat-R-Box, Culvers, Kathy’s Drive-In, J2 Catering, Kellner International, and Perkins.
