A 47-year-old man faces charges of sexual assault, after police say he violated a 15-year-old girl.

Edwin Grys, of Wisconsin Rapids, is charged with second degree sexual assault of a child. According to police reports, on Jul. 5, 2015, a officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of Chestnut St. regarding a fight due to a sexual assault allegation.

The officer spoke to the girl, who visited Grys and his girlfriend on Jul. 3, 2015 located on the 800 block of 14th St. South. The complainant, who was accompanied by her 14-year-old friend, watched a movie with Grys and his girlfriend that night.

According to reports, Grys was allegedly drinking brandy throughout the night. Grys eventually sat next to the complainant on the couch during the movie and started to put his hands on her thighs and started to engage in sexual contact.

Later that night Grys allegedly went into the bedroom that the complainant and her friend were sharing, grabbed her and said “we should have some fun”. The complainant told Grys to leave the room, and he did.

If convicted, Grys faces up to 40 years imprisonment and up to $100,000 in fines. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Apr. 6.
