Road construction is slated to start on 24th St. behind Home Depot later this week, as a part of the construction for Hilltop Grand Village, a resort style retirement community.

“We’re going to be doing some preliminary work there, to serve the new residential subdivision behind them,” said Public Works Director Joe Terry. “I’m not sure of the time frame, but it’s pretty aggressive – they’ve been working on it hard over the winter.”

According to Terry, the construction crew needs the road extended to better access the area. There is expected to be no interruption in traffic flow through the project. The area itself will consist of 40,000 plus square feet of housing for independent retirees in Wisconsin Rapids.
