A 43-year-old woman has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell after police say they found the substance hidden in her pants.
Gabrielle Hawkins, of Vesper, is charged with possession to deliver methamphetamine near a jail, and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to police reports, on Feb. 10, 2016, an officer was dispatched to the Wood County Jail for reports of drugs found in an inmate’s property.
The officer reported finding a pair of pants which belonged to Hawkins with two holes in the waistband. Inside, the officer found 23 individually wrapped baggies containing a white crystal substance. Tests would later confirm the substance to be 4.6 grams of methamphetamine.
Hawkins was previous convicted of a drug offense in 2012.
If convicted, Hawkins faces up to 15 years imprisonment and up to $50,000 in fines. A 12-person jury trial is scheduled for Apr. 27.
