Local democrats will be listening to Saratoga residents regarding concerns over groundwater quality in relation to a pending dairy farm on Thursday.

Saratoga has been the sight of an ongoing battle between residents and Wysocki Farms, who has been attempting to build a large scale dairy farm in the area for four years, now. Saratoga residents have stated concerns about contaminated water from animal waste as well as what two high capacity wells that are proposed to the area may do to the water supply.

Senator Julie Lassa, Senator Mark Miller, and Representatives Cory Mason and Katrina Shankland will be hosting a session at town hall in Saratoga at 4:00 p.m.

“This listening session will be an opportunity for community members to share their concerns about groundwater in the Central Sands, ask questions of legislators, and discuss what can be expected next legislative session.” said the press release from the elected officials.

Wysocki Farms operates Central Sands Dairy, and a milk production plant in the Nekoosa area.

The four democrats have authored legislation called the Water Sustainability Act, which creates a better process for managing state water resources. This bill will be introduced in the next legislative session.
