A 32-year-old man has been charged with second degree sexual assault, false imprisonment, and others after police say he sexually assaulted a woman and then later forcefully resisted arrest.

Derrick Greycarek, of Wisconsin Rapids, is charged with second degree sexual assault, false imprisonment, strangulation and suffocation, battery to an officer, three counts of resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

According to police reports, on Mar. 19, an officer began investigating a sexual assault that had occurred on the 2500 block of 7th St. South. The officer made contact with the complainant, who stated that on Mar. 18, she visited Greycarek, who continually asked her for sex.

After she refused, she made her way to the door to leave when Greycarek pulled her by the hair and struck her in the nose. According to the complainant, Greycarek grabbed her by the throat and squeezed, making it hard for her to breathe. He then forced himself on top of her and sexually assaulted her. After the assault, Greycarek insulted her by calling her names.

Officers attempted to make contact with Greycarek outside of his residence on Mar. 19, but the defendant ran into his house and told police only that he did not punch her in the face. On Mar. 23, the officer attempted to make contact with Greycarek again, only for Greycarek to once again run into his house.

Greycarek would later call police and admitted running away from officers, but according to reports told police that the accuser only came over to ask him for money, which Greycarek refused. He said he gave her a kiss on the cheek, and that she left afterward. He denied assaulting or attacking the complainant, as well as informing police that he was accused in the past for strangulation in an unrelated incident.

On Mar. 25, officers received a report that Greycarek was at a pub on the 1400 block of 1st St. South in Wisconsin Rapids. Once officers entered, Greycarek took off running. Police quickly caught up to Greycarek and placed him under arrest.

When being placed into the vehicle, an officer grabbed Greycarek’s chin in efforts to avoid another officer from receiving a possible head-butt. At that time, Greycarek bit the officer in his middle finger.

Records show that the defendant has previous convictions of criminal damage to property and resisting or obstructing an officer in late 2015.

If convicted, Greycarek faces up to 40 years imprisonment and up to $100,000 in fines for second degree sexual assault, six years imprisonment and $10,000 in fines for false imprisonment, six years imprisonment and $10,000 in fines for strangulation and suffocation, six years imprisonment and $10,000 in fines for battery to an officer, as well as additional time for battery, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

His preliminary hearing was Apr. 18. Further court dates are pending.
