One man and two children are dead after an apparent murder-suicide on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, a man sent his brother what was described as a “disturbing” email saying goodbye to his family. According to a press release issued by the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, on Apr. 27 at approximately 2:13 a.m. the police department and paramedics responded to a residence on the 400 block of 11th St. South regarding a reported distraught person.

Officers arrived and noticed a strong odor of gas in the house, and upon arrival found one deceased male and two deceased children. It appears that all three victims suffered gunshot wounds in what police are calling a double-homicide, suicide.

The investigation continues at this time.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wisconsin Crime Lab, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Wood County Coroner’s Office are all participating in the investigation.
