For the City Times

Here is a few volunteer opportunities for the United Way of Inner Wisconsin, located in Wisconsin Rapids.

Central Wisconsin Literacy Council (CWLC): Fundraiser volunteers –  Do you like the Badgers? Do you love the Packers? Brewers? College hockey? Etc? We’ve got a bunch of sports memorabilia we want to use in a fundraising event, and could use someone who likes trivia to come up with some descriptions of the items.

CWLC: Software Installation Volunteer –  Looking for someone (or more than one person) adept at following the instructions and being patient to accurately download and activate software  purchased to update six laptops.

Donations are currently needed at the Heroes Cafe. These items include: Coffee – regular and decaf, individual coffee creamer cups, napkins, monetary for purchase of donuts each week, juice, and dish soap. Food donations should be discussed directly with the American Heroes Cafe.

Family Center – Donate used cell phones to the Family Center’s ongoing collection – any and all used cell phones, regardless of age or condition. The Family Center will collect old cell phones – including outdated and broken models – as part of an ongoing fundraising for shelter for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual violence.

United We Can Event: The South Wood County Hunger Coalition is hosting United We Can, a contest to see which participating organization in south Wood County can build the most creative and visually captivating sculpture out of cans (or other basic needs items) donated by employees and friends. After the event, the South Wood County Hunger Coalition will distribute the collected items to area food programs.

The event will be held on Jun 15 at Witter Field during the Rafters vs. Madison Mallards game.

Construction 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; displayed 7:05 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. — Register to participate by Jun 6.
