VFW Celebrates 84 Years
By Joe Bachman
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2534 celebrated it’s 84th birthday on Thursday night.
The veterans organization, founded in 1932, held it’s monthly meeting, which doubled as a birthday celebration.
Two honorable and longtime members included Don Knuth, who has served this post for 70 years.
“I’m a D-Day survivor,” said Knuth, who served in World War II in Europe. “I’ve been a member for the past 70 years — held several offices at local, state and national levels.”
Raymond Petrick served in the Navy in World War II in the South Pacific.
“It’s really important.” said Petrick about his time in the VFW.
