Fire officials in Vesper say no one was injured in a major structure fire on Tuesday

Crews responded to the scene of a structure fire at 7231 North Rd. in the Town of Hansen on May 23. According to Vesper Fire Chief Dennis Dederich, the 7,000-square-foot building was fully engulfed when multiple departments responded. The building, according to Dederich, contained “numerous fuel tanks” resulting in “multiple explosions” during the fire.

The building eventually collapsed, threatening two adjacent structures. The cause of the fire, Dederich said, was an overheated belt drive on a rip saw.

The building and its contents are considered a total loss. The value of the loss and damage was not immediately available.

Crews were on the scene until about 2 AM. Wed. morning.

The Vesper Fire Dept. assisted by fire departments in Pittsville, Arpin, Richfield, Hewitt and the Wood County Sheriff’s Department.
