Wisconsin Rapids Weekend Rundown

A quiet Memorial Day Weekend. Here is a rundown of weekend events. 

Friday, May 27
Wood County Veterans Memorial Legacy Stone Ceremony — 11:00 a.m.

There will be a ceremony held to honor those who served in the military by laying legacy stones at the Wood County courthouse. The Wood County courthouse is located at 400 Market St. in Wisconsin Rapids.

Saturday, May 28
“Not Your Average Triathlon” — 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This non-competitive event has participants choose to either run or walk a one or three mile course. The three mile route will overlook the shoreline on Lake Petenwell. Bicyclists have the option of biking three, five or ten mile routes through wood subdivisions by Petenwell. The events are not timed. Registration required. Please make checks payable to: Friends of the Lester Library. This event is organized by the Friends of the Lester Public Library of Rome.

This event is located at Barnum Bay Marina, 1735 Archer Ln Nekoosa, WI 54457

Saturday, May 28
“Urban Landscapes” — 10:00 a.m.

“Urban Landscapes” art exhibit will also feature “Cranberry fest”. These are juried media exhibits on display at the Central Wisconsin Cultural Center.

This event is located at 240 Johnson St. in Wisconsin Rapids.

Monday, May 30

“Battle of the Legends Part 2” — Gates open at 11:00 a.m.

“Battle of the Legends Part 2 Memorial Day Race! Featuring over 200 Laps of Super Late Model Racing Action! 5 Super Late Model teams (determined by draft picks) will race one another for the top spot. Also featuring Sport Trucks & Vintage Cars. Gates Open 11am, Time Trials 1:15pm, Racing at 3pm. Please visit www.gssraces.com for more details.”
