A 26-year-old man is charged with robbery with use of force after police reports say he assaulted a man and then robbed him.

Michael Yellowthunder, of Vesper, is charged with robbery with use of force, and battery. According to police reports on Jan. 23, an officer was dispatched to the 4800 block of State Highway 73 in the town of Sigel. The complainant told police that he knows Yellowthunder, and he let him into his residence that day.

The two approached the complainant’s office when Yellowthunder allegedly struck the complainant in the head and in the eye, causing him to fall to the ground. Soon after, Yellowthunder grabbed a small black lockbox from a nearby desk and smashed it on the floor before taking money from the lockbox and fleeing the residence.

If convicted, Yellowthunder faces up to  15 years imprisonment and up to $50,000 in fines. He is currently facing unrelated charges of criminal damage to property, making threats over a phone, and two counts of bail jumping.

His arraignment is scheduled for Jun. 6.
