A 39-year man faces multiple counts of delivering drugs to an inmate after police found controlled substances under his cell bunk.

Christopher Pelner, of Wisconsin Rapids, is charged with three counts of manufacturing and delivering schedule IV drugs, and two counts of delivering controlled substances to an inmate.

According to police reports on Apr. 22, Pelner was released from jail for a dental appointment. Pelner picked up 90 pills of Alprazolam, 120 pills of Tramadol, and a box of condoms at Walgreens.

On Apr. 25, 42 Alprazolam pills, and 43 Tramadol pills were found in Pelner’s bunk, both considered schedule IV controlled substances. A few days prior, officers noted that a few inmates on Pelner’s cell block were acting strangely, and believed them to be under the influence of drugs.

The inmates told police that they took drugs with Pelner, which he provided.

If convicted, Pelner faces up to six years and up to $10,000 in fines per charge of manufacturing and delivering a schedule IV drug, as well as three years and six months per charge of delivering to an inmate.

His pre-trial conference is scheduled for Jul. 15.
