Many Gather for Library Groundbreaking
City Times Staff
Over 80 area residents and library benefactors helped mark the groundbreaking for the Lester Public Library of Rome building project last Friday.
Town chairman Phil McLaughlin, Nekoosa School administrator Terry Whitmore, Library board president Jeanne Osgood, and Library director Lore Ponshock were all on hand to speak at the gathering.
The focus of discussion was the growth of opportunities in Rome, the future and evolution of libraries, and how that has changed over the years. The constant, being that they are still considered the “hub” of the community, and a bright future awaits Lester Public Library.
