Common council was held on Tuesday, Jun. 21. Here are some of the notable tidbits from that meeting.
The sale of $1.2 million dollars in promissory notes was finalized for the city. The notes are slated to mature on Jun. 1, 2025, and carry an interest rate of 1.67%. The money will be used for public purposes, including construction of street improvement projects, sanitary and storm sewer construction, and municipal parking lot improvement projects.
The chronic nuisance ordinance was postponed so that further discussion can take place between city officials and landlords to perfect an agreeable ordinance for all parties. It will be picked back up at next month’s common council meeting.
Debate on the control of the Canadian geese population in Wisconsin Rapids was heard on both sides. One side would like to see a more conservation friendly approach to netting and capturing troublesome geese, including donating their meat to local pantrys.
Paul Przybelski was sworn in as the Wisconsin Rapids city clerk.
