A 23-year-old man has been charged with possession of methamphetamine after police found him on hallucinogens.

Evaristo Castillo Meza Jr. is charged with possession of methamphetamine and disorderly conduct. According to police reports on Jun. 10, an officer was dispatched to a business on the 3300 block of 8th St. South regarding a complaint of someone causing a disturbance.

The complainant told officers that at approximately 7:00 a.m. he found a man, later identified as Meza Jr., pounding on a van that did not belong to him. Police made contact with Meza Jr., and identified him through a Texas ID card.

Meza Jr. was reported to have been extremely agitated and speaking erratically. He claimed that his family members were abducted and locked inside a van. An officer checked the van in question find that it was empty. Meza Jr. was then believed to be under the influence of a hallucinogen.

Officers searched Meza Jr.’s room and found a gem bag containing a white, crystalline substance, believed to be methamphetamine. Tests would later confirm that to be the case.

If convicted, Meza Jr. faces up to three years and six months imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines. Future court dates are currently pending.
