Alcohol Possibly Involved in Saturday Motorcycle Accident

One man has been seriously injured after crashing his motorcycle into a tree on Saturday night.

According to a release by the Wood County Sheriff’s department at approximately 11:08 p.m. on Saturday night officers and emergency crew were dispatched to County Highway U in the town of Biron. The motorcycle passed a vehicle on the road while negotiating a slight curve and lost control of the bike.

The motorcycle struck a tree and ejected the driver.

The driver was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors involved in the crash at this time. The name of the driver has not yet been released.

The Wood County sheriff’s department was assisted by Sheriff’s rescue, the Wisconsin Rapids fire department, and Biron fire department. The crash is still under investigation.
