City Officials Want WiFi at Robinson Park

City officials have approved a motion to install WiFi service in Robinson Park for public use.

The proposal, created by Parks & Recreation member Matt Heiderman, would have a fiber-line installed into Robinson Park by Solarus, which would create a WiFi hotspot for the area. The fiber-line would also double for use regarding the camera system at the park.

“I was there at Blossomfest two weeks ago and I thought ‘why don’t we have park WiFi here?'” said Mayor Zach Vruwink. “There are so many facilities there and large scale events — this is a great idea.”

According to Heiderman, the city would enter a three year contract with Solarus at a cost of $70/month with the installation fee waived.

The motion to approve the WiFi option was unanimous and will be sent to common council in July for final approval.
