A 28-year-old faces a slew of charges, including strangulation, methamphetamine possession, and substantial battery after being charged with a series of crimes on separate dates.

Tyler Larson, of Wisconsin Rapids, is charged with strangulation and suffocation, disorderly conduct, possession of methamphetamine, substantial battery, bail jumping, and manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to police reports, on May 17, an officer was dispatched to the 1700 block of 25th Ave. South regarding reports of a potential argument turned physical. The officer made contact with the complainant, who stated that Larson cornered her during an argument and wrapped his arms around her neck while standing behind her making it hard for her to breathe.

As the fight continued, she was reportedly slammed into the wall as she tried to push Larson away.

On May 25, an officer made contact with Larson in a parking lot adjacent to the Wood County Courthouse. This was regarding an earlier incident where police had attempted to make contact with an owner of a vehicle identified as Larson’s.

Once police made contact they noticed Larson was wearing a backpack that he claimed earlier was his. Larson later told officers that it actually wasn’t his backpack shortly before police searched it. Inside, they found two glass smoking pipes, and a container with a white, powdery substance later confirmed to be methamphetamine.

On Jul. 1 an officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of Chestnut St. regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the initial complainant from May 17 who officers observed had a black eye and a bloodied lip.

According to the complainant, Larson came to her residence and asked for clothing and pushed himself inside the residence. Larson chased after her, then held her up against the wall and allegedly punched her in the face.

According to the complainant, Larson was over her residence on Jun. 30 and became angry at her for calling Larson a “meth head”. Larson denied all accounts of physical harm.

Larson was not to commit any further crimes as he was currently out on bond for charges of strangulation and methamphetamine possession.

If convicted, Larson faces up to three years and six months for battery, three years and six months imprisonment for possession of methamphetamine, six years imprisonment for strangulation and suffocation, a combined 12 years imprisonment for two counts of bail jumping, and a combined $50,000 in fines.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jul. 14.
