A 38-year-old faces charges of drug trafficking after police found multiple drug paraphernalia items at her residence.

Heather Westlund, of Port Edwards, is charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and two counts of bail jumping.

According to police reports on Jun. 27, officers executed a search warrant on the 1000 block of 2nd St. in Port Edwards. During the search, officers located multiple items of contraband inside a black zipper pouch in Heather’s room. The items found inside the pouch were two .3 milliliter syringes, two metal spoons containing burnt bottoms and residue, 10 more syringes, two gem baggies, a straw, two scales, and a metal pipe with burnt residue.

Officers also found numerous items of contraband spread throughout the house, including an bong, a metal glass pipe with burnt residue, a hyper-dermic needle and additional used drug paraphernalia.

According to Westund, the items in the home were not from her, but others who used drugs in the home that are “in and out” of the residence. Westlund allegedly claimed that she uses heroin, but only a small amount, and that she kept drug paraphernalia in her room as to keep it away from children.

Westlund was currently out on bail stemming from charges of THC possession and illegally obtained prescription possession, and was to commit no further crimes.

If convicted, Westlund faces up to three years and six months imprisonment for charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place, plus a combined 12 years imprisonment and up to $20,000 in fines for two counts of bail jumping.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jul. 11
